White on the hub
On supported setups, white can mean Connectivity Backup is being used. Expect lower speeds and higher latency than the fixed EE fibre line.

Some EE packages use a 4G Connectivity Backup device so the home stays online when the fixed broadband line fails. It prevents a total outage, but it is not the same as the fibre line for gaming, video calls or large downloads.
Aqua or blue central light
The backup device is paired with the hub. Aqua or blue 4G bars indicate usable mobile signal; two or three bars is the better target.
White signal bars
White bars indicate the backup device is using mobile data to support broadband. Expect downloads to fall and loaded latency or jitter to rise.
Red central light
Move the backup device closer to a window, keep it raised and away from electronics, then restart. If red remains, treat it as a backup-device fault.
If backup mode is active, pause console updates, cloud backups and competitive matchmaking. EE’s backup connection is intended for resilience, not full fixed-line performance, so latency-sensitive work should wait until the hub returns to the normal aqua/blue online state.
