01

Agreement to these terms

By accessing or using LinkSpeed.co.uk, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please stop using the website.

These terms apply to the LinkSpeed website (operated by JandATech Trading Ltd) and its free tests, tools, guides and information pages. A broadband provider or other third party may apply separate terms when you visit its website or purchase a service.

02

The LinkSpeed service

LinkSpeed provides browser-based broadband testing and independent information about internet speed, latency, jitter, packet loss, bufferbloat, Wi-Fi, providers, switching and related connectivity topics.

The website is provided primarily for personal, household and general informational use. LinkSpeed is not an internet service provider and does not control your broadband line, router, mobile signal, provider network or the wider internet.

03

Speed-test results are estimates

Speed-test and connection-quality results are estimates produced in the browser. They are not a guarantee of line capability, provider performance, minimum speed, fault status or service availability.

Results can vary because of:

  • Wi-Fi signal, interference, distance and router placement;
  • device hardware, software, browser load and power-saving settings;
  • VPNs, security software, extensions and unusual network configurations;
  • other people, applications or devices using the connection;
  • test-server location, internet routing and temporary congestion;
  • the broadband technology, package, provider network and time of day.

Use repeated Ethernet tests under controlled conditions when investigating a fault. A LinkSpeed result should not be treated as the sole evidence for a contractual dispute or technical diagnosis.

04

General information, not professional advice

Content on LinkSpeed is provided as general information. It is not personalised technical, legal, financial, regulatory or contractual advice. Broadband packages, provider terms, prices, coverage, consumer schemes and technical standards can change.

Check important information with the relevant provider, regulator, manufacturer or qualified adviser before making a purchase, changing equipment, cancelling a contract or relying on a legal right.

05

Acceptable use

You may use LinkSpeed for normal lawful testing, research and personal troubleshooting. You must not:

  • attempt to damage, disable, overload or disrupt the website, test services or supporting infrastructure;
  • run excessive automated tests, scraping, bots or bulk requests without written permission;
  • bypass access controls, probe for vulnerabilities or attempt unauthorised access;
  • introduce malware, harmful code or deliberately misleading traffic;
  • use the website in a way that infringes another person’s rights or breaks applicable law;
  • misrepresent LinkSpeed results, content or branding as an official provider or regulatory statement.

Reasonable protective measures may be used to restrict traffic that appears abusive, automated, harmful or unusually resource-intensive.

06

Website content and intellectual property

Unless stated otherwise, LinkSpeed owns or licenses the original website design, written content, graphics, code and branding. You may view and use the site for personal purposes and may link to public pages.

You must not reproduce substantial parts of the website, republish complete articles, remove notices, sell the content or present it as your own without permission, except where law allows.

The official LinkSpeed broadband-quality widget may be embedded using the code supplied on the report page, provided the LinkSpeed attribution and link remain visible. Aggregate CSV or JSON summaries may be quoted with clear attribution, the stated sample size and a link to the methodology. Individual test records are not offered for republication.

Names, logos and trademarks belonging to broadband providers or other organisations remain the property of their respective owners. Their appearance for identification or editorial discussion does not imply endorsement or affiliation.

08

Website availability and changes

LinkSpeed aims to keep the website useful and available, but uninterrupted or error-free access is not promised. Tests, pages or features may be changed, suspended or withdrawn for maintenance, security, accuracy, capacity or other operational reasons.

Links can break and technical or factual information can become outdated. LinkSpeed may correct, update or remove content when an issue is identified.

09

Responsibility and liability

You remain responsible for decisions made using the website, including provider choices, equipment changes, contract actions and technical configuration. Back up settings and understand recovery steps before changing router firmware or advanced network options.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, LinkSpeed is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of, inability to use, or reliance on the free website or external sites. This includes loss caused by business interruption, missed savings, lost data or decisions made solely from an estimated test result.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Nothing in these terms removes statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10

Privacy and cookies

Use of personal information is explained separately in the Privacy Policy. Information about cookies and similar browser storage is provided in the Cookie Policy.

Privacy choices and consent requests are separate from acceptance of these general website terms.

11

Your legal rights

These terms are intended to be clear and fair. They do not override rights or remedies that applicable law gives you and does not permit LinkSpeed to exclude.

If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply so far as legally possible. Delay in enforcing a term does not automatically waive it.

12

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated to reflect new tools, legal requirements, business changes or clearer wording. The effective date at the top of the page will be changed when an update is published.

Changes apply from the stated date. Continuing to use the website after that date means the updated terms apply to that later use.
