Broadband Availability Checker: Find Full Fibre & Provider Routes

Enter a UK postcode, get a clear availability verdict, then jump straight to the provider route most likely to matter before you switch or order.

Find full fibre and provider routes before you switch

Check postcode-level broadband coverage, see the strongest technology route, then verify the exact address with Openreach-based providers, Virgin Media/nexfibre, CityFibre partners, 5G or local altnets.

Check broadband availability and provider routes by postcode

Enter a full UK postcode to get a compact coverage verdict, key percentages and immediate provider-routes.

Use a full postcode, for example RG21 8SB. Mobile results are local-area context, not an indoor signal guarantee.

Ready Enter a postcode to check availability

Results appear here once coverage data is checked.

Data note Postcode coverage guide, not an order guarantee. Uses LinkSpeed’s local Ofcom Connected Nations dataset. Confirm the exact address with the provider before ordering.
  • Checks the submitted postcode against LinkSpeed’s local Ofcom coverage dataset.
  • Does not query every provider or altnet live.
  • Adds the local place name where available; otherwise keeps the postcode result visible.

Provider route checks

Check the exact-address provider routes

Use the postcode verdict above, then pick a provider route below. Matched routes are moved to the front where the coverage data names a network, but the provider checker must confirm the exact address before ordering.

Why neighbours can get fibre but you cannot

Availability can differ within the same street. Your property may use a different serving route, cabinet, pole, duct, building entry point or landlord/wayleave arrangement. Flats and subdivided buildings are especially prone to missing database files and address-record problems.

  • Different telegraph pole or underground duct route.
  • Missing or stale address record for a flat, new build or subdivided property.
  • Landlord or wayleave approval still needed for a block of flats.
  • Blocked duct, capacity issue or final-drop engineering delay.
  • Different networks covering opposite sides of the same street.

When this happens, check the exact address format, compare multiple providers and keep screenshots of the checker results. If your line speed is capped but your neighbour’s line flies, run the LinkSpeed Speed Test over a wired connection, then use the Out of Contract Broadband guide to see whether switching could cut the monthly cost while you move to a better route.

City-level broadband context

Postcode results are the best next step, but city-level guides can help you understand local provider, full fibre and speed-test topics before you compare packages.

Detailed answers

Fibre Availability Guide

Use these answers to understand postcode results, address-level differences, rollout wording and the checks to make before choosing or switching provider.

What is a fibre broadband availability checker?

A checker compares a postcode or exact address with network coverage records to indicate whether standard broadband, FTTC part-fibre, cable, full fibre or FTTP may be available. Always confirm the exact address with the provider before ordering.

Does a postcode result guarantee fibre at my exact address?

No. A postcode result is an area-level guide. Flats, new builds and neighbouring homes can use different poles, ducts, cabinets, distribution points or building access routes, so the provider must confirm the exact address and estimated speed.

Why can my neighbour get full fibre broadband but I cannot?

Neighbouring properties can be served differently even when they share the same postcode. Check these common causes:

  1. Different telegraph pole, cabinet or underground duct route.
  2. Provider database updated for one address before another.
  3. Flat, MDU or new-build address record mismatch.
  4. Landlord wayleave or building-entry permission still pending.
  5. Blocked duct, capacity limit or final-drop engineering delay.
What do “available now”, “coming soon”, “planned” and “building” mean?

Available now normally means an order can be placed. Coming soon or building means work is under way but service is not ready to order. Planned is an earlier rollout stage and dates can change. If there is no current plan, compare the best services available today and keep checking.

What should I do if a checker result is wrong or my address is missing?

Enter the postcode and address exactly as they appear on a bill or council-tax record. If the result still looks wrong, keep a screenshot and ask the relevant network or broadband provider to investigate and correct the address record.

Can I order Full Fibre directly from Openreach?

No. Openreach builds and maintains its network, but customers order through a retail broadband provider. The provider manages the package, order, installation appointment and service.

What is the difference between standard fibre and full fibre broadband?

Standard fibre usually means FTTC, where fibre reaches the street cabinet and copper carries the final section to the property. Full fibre or FTTP uses fibre-optic cable to the premises and can support much higher download and upload speeds, although retail package speeds vary.

Which broadband networks are available at my address?

The LinkSpeed local Ofcom result shows coverage percentages but may not identify every network operator serving the exact address. Use Compare Provider Availability Routes to verify Openreach providers, Virgin Media or Nexfibre, CityFibre partners and regional alternative networks.

What should I compare before switching broadband provider?

Compare the estimated speed for the exact property, upload speed, minimum guaranteed speed, contract length, setup or installation charges, annual price changes, router features and total contract cost. Check whether your current contract has ended before switching.

What should I do if Full Fibre is not available yet?

Do not stop at one checker. Compare Virgin Media/nexfibre, 5G home broadband, CityFibre partners and local altnets first, then check the wider full-fibre coverage map and register for network updates. Hard-to-reach areas may also qualify for Project Gigabit or community voucher support.
