Short answer
Wi-Fi 7 is worth considering if you have fast full fibre, several new devices, heavy household usage, a premium mesh system, or you want the best chance of lower wireless latency.
It is less urgent if your broadband package is under 100 Mbps, your devices are older, or your main issue is weak signal caused by thick walls or poor router placement.
Wi-Fi 7 is worth it if...
- You have gigabit or multi-gig full fibre.
- Your phone or laptop already supports Wi-Fi 7.
- You use large downloads, cloud backups or local file transfers.
- You have a busy home with many devices online at once.
- You are buying a premium mesh system and want it to last longer.
Wi-Fi 7 may not be worth it yet if...
- Your broadband package is slow because the line itself is slow.
- Your devices only support Wi-Fi 5 or Wi-Fi 6.
- Your real problem is poor coverage in one room.
- You mostly browse, email and stream one TV at a time.
- A cheaper Wi-Fi 6 mesh system would fix the problem.
Test before upgrading
Before spending money, run a speed test close to the router and again in the room where Wi-Fi feels slow. If speed is good near the router but poor elsewhere, coverage is probably the issue. A better router position or mesh system may help more than simply chasing the newest Wi-Fi number.
